The Audience gains rave reviews

As the curtains go up for Helen Mirren to reprise her role, the first of the reviews start to flood in....

And as anyone who has heard the name Helen Mirren (ummmm... everyone?!) knows, the reviews are positive to say the least.

Stephen Daldy's production adds some interesting twists to the stage play as he has all of Helen Mirren's costume changes on stage, and the script penned by Peter Morgan has attracted equal praise.

Perfectly crafted to sit someone between the humour of Yes, Prime Minister and a slightly more serious message, it's advised to book your tickets while there is still a chance for this production which will run until June 15th.

“Oz the Great and Powerful” hits our screens this week!

The highly anticipated Oz the Great and Powerful comes to UK cinemas this week, with a great cast and powerful production behind it!
Starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz, this Sam Raimi directed film was shot with the use of 3D cameras on an intricate set of combined techniques.

Alongside the CGI used during filming, Raimi also opted to use practical, physical sets, constructed so the actors could have a visual reference as opposed to using green screen technology for every scene.

Yet another step in updating our vision of the wonderful land of Oz, after the recent production on the West End in London which featured rotating and electronic sets designed by award winning production designer Robert Jones.

In cinemas from Friday 8th March, Oz the Great and Powerful will be out in 2D and 3D.

ITV's Mr Selfridge comes to an end this week

The new Sunday night TV hit will end this week. The much anticipated 'Mr Selfridge' lived up to all expectations of portraying an elegant view of the London department store!

'Mr Selfridge' tells the story of Harry Gordon Selfridge (Jeremy Piven). Harry has an aim to make shopping thrilling! He wanted to indulge women so he opened the doors of the lavish department store, on London's famous Oxford Street.

The set, costumes and props from this drama series based in 1908 have impressed our team!

One of our favourite props is the beautiful burgandy motor car that Mr Selfridge brings in for the window display. The costumes are all extremly chic with hats in tow!

The best way to check out the production is for yourself via ITV player - Happy Watching! http://player.stv.tv/programmes/mr-selfridge/

The Sets of 2013

Post Oscars blues are hanging over our head this week!

So to cheer ourselves up we’ve been looking at the beautiful sets from some of the recent films making their mark on the industry.

First up, the Oscar nominated Jim Erickson for the Set Decoration on Lincoln. While everyone is currently raving about Daniel Day Lewis making the film what it was, equal to that was the work of american history so well created.

Secondly, Peter Jackson's recreation of the world of Tolkein is back on our screens in The Hobbit. Ra Vincent and Simon bright brought back to life houses fit for the little people in the first of another trilogy.

Up next was of course Les Miserables. BAFTA winning designers Eva Stewart and Anna Lynch-Robinson have stormed this awards season, and rightly so. Reviving Victor Hugo's scenes of the June Rebellion of 1832, this time for film.

Cloud Atlas is still the much anticipated release. The 6 different eras portrayed in the film mean it's bound to be a sight for sore eyes when it comes to set design. We wait with baited breath to see what Hugh Bateup and Uli Hanish have to offer us.
